Spring Cleaning for Your Home, Office, and Mind

There’s something about spring that brings with it the urge to open the windows, let the light pour in, and hit reset. We declutter the junk drawer, deep clean the baseboards, and finally tackle the pantry—but what if we expanded our definition of spring cleaning beyond just our homes?

This season, I invite you to think bigger.

What if you refreshed your workspace too—the one you spend hours in each day? And even more importantly, what if you gave your mind the same attention you give your sock drawer?

In this post, we’re diving into a full-spectrum spring clean: your home, your office, and your mental space. Because sometimes the most cluttered part of our lives isn’t under the bed—it’s in our heads.

And if you’re ready to give your office a deeper glow-up, don’t miss the “Feel-Good Office” blog series here on BeneathThePalms.com. We’re talking all things workspace decor, energy, and function—plus links to some of my favorite finds.

Let’s dig in.

Part 1: Spring Cleaning Your Home – Make Space for What Matters

Your home sets the tone for your day. If you’re waking up surrounded by piles of stuff, undone laundry, or that drawer full of mystery cords, it can quietly drain your energy. Spring is the perfect time to reclaim your space with intention—not for perfection, but for peace.

1.1 Start with a Vision, Not a Checklist

Before you start purging, pause and ask: How do I want this space to feel? Energizing? Calm? Minimal? Cozy?

Let that intention guide your choices. You’re not just cleaning—you’re curating an environment that supports the life you want to live.

1.2 The Three-Zone Method

Break your spring clean into three categories:

  • Daily-use spaces - Bedroom, kitchen, bathroom

  • Storage zones - Closets, garages, basements

  • Emotional clutter zones - Things you've kept "just in case" or out of guilt.

Tackle one zone per week to avoid burnout. This isn’t a race—it’s a reset.

1.3 Try This: The “One Shelf a Day” Rule

Instead of taking on your whole kitchen, commit to just one shelf or drawer a day. It’s low pressure, but incredibly effective. You’ll be amazed what 10 minutes can do when done consistently.

1.4 Don’t Forget the Details

  • Swap out heavy winter throws and linens for lighter textures.

  • Open windows and add fresh plants or flowers for life and movement.

  • Diffuse citrus or eucalyptus oils to give your space an instant seasonal lift.

Your space doesn’t need to be spotless—it needs to feel good to you.

Part 2: Spring Cleaning Your Office – The Forgotten Zone

Let’s be honest: how often do you deep-clean your desk drawer? Or wipe down your keyboard? Or rethink the way your workspace functions?

We spend hours here, and yet it’s often the most overlooked space in spring cleaning.

That ends now.

2.1 What’s Working—And What’s Not?

Look at your workspace with fresh eyes. Ask:

  • What feels cluttered?

  • What items do I use daily vs. never?

  • Is this space functional and inspiring?

Remove anything that doesn’t serve you—and add a few things that do.

2.2 Give It a Physical Refresh

  • Dust everything: Monitor, keyboard, lamp, desk legs.

  • Wipe down surfaces and use a little lemon or lavender spray for a subtle lift.

  • Go digital: Clean your desktop, update passwords, and clear out that downloads folder.

2.3 Organize for Flow

Set up your workspace so that your most-used items are within reach. Hide cords. Use trays or small baskets to corral random items. Label drawers.

Remember, organization isn’t about being rigid—it’s about reducing friction.

2.4 Add Something That Brings Joy

A candle. A new mousepad. A small framed photo. A plant. It doesn’t take much to turn your workspace from a place of obligation to a place of creativity.

Part 3: Spring Cleaning Your Mind – Because That’s Where It All Begins

This one’s big.

Mental clutter shows up in a hundred ways: racing thoughts, decision fatigue, doom-scrolling, lingering to-dos, and the constant feeling of being behind.

You can have the cleanest house on the block—but if your mind feels scattered, you won’t feel the benefits.

Spring is a perfect time to pause, reflect, and gently re-align with what matters.

3.1 Ask: What Am I Carrying That’s No Longer Mine?

Are you holding onto:

  • Expectations from others?

  • Old narratives about what success looks like?

  • Guilt around resting?

  • Tasks that could be delegated or dropped?

Let this be your permission slip to release what doesn’t serve you.

3.2 Create a “Mental Clean-Up” Practice

Try this once a week—or every morning if you're feeling bold.

  1. Dump your brain: Write down every single thought on your mind.

  2. Highlight what's important: Circle 3 things that actually need attention today.

  3. Let the rest wait: You don’t have to do it all right now. Clarity comes from discernment.

3.3 Build In Mental White Space

Spring cleaning your mind doesn’t mean filling your calendar with more routines. Sometimes the most powerful act is to do nothing.

Create small pockets of calm:

  • A five-minute morning stretch

  • A walk without your phone

  • Music without multitasking

The goal isn’t productivity. It’s presence.

3.4 Try These Mental Wellness Tools (My Favorites Right Now)

I’ve tested a lot of wellness products—and these are the ones that are actually helping me feel clear and calm this season:

  • Oura Ring - Track sleep, activity, and stress.

  • Weighted Sleep Mask - This mask is amazing. I doze off instantly!

  • Self Care Planner – This planner makes habit tracking a breeze.

  • Red Light Therapy Mask – It looks a little goofy, but I notice a huge difference in my pore size and skin texture.

  • Core Meditation Trainer – This meditation trainer actually gives you feedback on your meditation. No more wondering… Did I do it right?

None of these are magic bullets—but they’re tools that support a more grounded, less cluttered mind. Use what works for you and skip what doesn’t. Check out the full list on the blog post.

Wrapping It All Up: You Deserve a Seasonal Reset

Spring cleaning isn’t just about having a prettier home or a shinier office.

It’s about giving yourself space. Space to think clearly, work with ease, and move through your days without the constant hum of overwhelm.

It’s about shedding what’s heavy so you can make room for what’s next.

So whether you’re folding up winter sweaters, organizing your office drawers, or journaling your way back to center—I hope you give yourself this gift:

A life with a little more ease, lightness, and intention.

You don’t need to overhaul your life this spring. Just start with one drawer. One corner. One deep breath.
